Click to download the NEW Pug Skullz Demo EP

International ‘recording artist’ and misogynist pig, Robin Thicke, sold a reported 54 copies of his latest banal, pop dreck. We’re reporting higher ‘sales’ of our latest home recorded demo to rub salt in his wounds (voluntary pay for download or free). While the disgraced son of former actor/current misogonist, Alan Thicke, sings ‘songs’ about what he perceives as a grey area around the objectified, female target of his desires saying ‘no,’ we’re (Pug Skullz) tackling the issue of police brutality and the police state mentality we live under. Our beliefs are antithetical to the mindless, debasing brain-smoother the scum-producing, elite music industry is pushing. So, it’s nice to know anti-fascist punk rock is garnering more support than the worthless corporate crap that’s being force fed to the masses!

Mr. Thicke could not be reached for comment, which leaves more time for us to get up on our soapbox and tell you that it’s time all of us begin to truly support our local artists and our favorite artists from around the globe…especially those who don’t have the plutocrats money at their backs. We suggest supporting bands directly. Bandcamp has the best split with bands of any online music service and they make it easy to pay. Even if you don’t want to support Pug Skullz by paying more than we’re asking, we know you will find bands you love and will want to support, if you use the Bandcamp search feature. Set up an account today!

In our ‘more good news for Pug Skullz’ section, we’re happy to say we’re scheduled to play another Seismomatic Productions event, this one co-produced by MaRx Spot and Synthetic Unlimited. We’ll be joined by Anarchpeace, The Community, Backseat Lovers and our old pals, Slutzville! July 19th, 8pm, 8 bucks…oh, hell, just read the flyer! (More info lower on this page vvv)

And then there’s this crazy awesome thing! We’re playing with one of the best newish bands on the entire planet. Some of you probably haven’t heard of them, but that should soon be rectified. Get your butt down to the Cafe Colonial July 26th and see the future of punk rock unfold before your very eyes as Generacion Suicida, from South Central Los Angeles, play a new style of hard, folk punk. Absolutely beautiful!

We’ll be joined by Jesus and the Dinosaurs, FearEction and Class System! Big night of diverse punk in Sacramento!

Then there’s this…maybe I shouldn’t bury it at the bottom of this long post, but it’s our music video for ‘Police State of Mind’.

Not much else going on…we’ve still got the Facebook page you could go like…enjoy!

Summer Daze, Secretions and John Doe

Less than a week to prepare for our biggest show yet! We seem to be on-course to cram three practices in between now and 8/8, when Pug Skullz will share the Miner’s Foundry Cultural Center stage with Lightweight, Devil’s Train and Sacramento legends, The Secretions!

The ‘Summer Daze‘ concert series, brainchild of Chad Connor Crow, of ‘As the Crow Flies Presents,’ has been building toward this mighty show for three weeks. Chad’s genre-splicing tactics have been highly successful thus far, with three diverse ‘Summer Daze’ shows already gracing the annals of history.

Rumor has it that sound is under the control of punk-percussionist superhero, Greg Cameron (October Faction/SWA/Chemical People), so we’re really going to hear what it’s like in the big leagues!

The posters for these events are some of the most memorable, eye-grabbing works of art I remember seeing…all the more special because they’re hand-drawn by the great Olaf Jens, of “Vinyl Avenger‘ fame.

Here’s the artwork for our BIG show!!

Oh, and here’s a picture of me with John Doe at The Center for the Arts last week. Please take time to note how much larger my head is:

Hope to see you at the Miner’s Foundry on Thursday!

The Vinyl Avenger Makes History!

My understanding of the event, which occurred last night, is that Pug Skullz were the first full-volume punk band to play in-studio at KVMR. It was an experiment which had never been tried, so from the on-air sound check to the final bursts of noise in our finale, “Tame, Domestic Post,” this was a first! After listening back today to the results, I have to say it was a huge success!

A huge thank you to Olaf Jens, who not only brought us in to grace the airwaves on his show, but is single-handedly reintroducing a new generation of listeners to what I consider the greatest art movement the world has ever witnessed. The underbelly of rockn’roll has existed parallel to her corporate sister from the get-go, but that dirty girl has always been more ferocious, more artistic, more real and more beautiful.

I’m not going to sit here and bore you with my commentary anymore, here is a link to The Vinyl Avenger page, where you can download the entire show from last night, followed by some pictures taken in-studio by Kevin Click and Colin Mayo!

Oh…so thank you to everyone who helped out last night, too! It was a real blast!! oh, and you can learn about slot cheats like I did, just click on the link

Pug Skullz to be crammed into a small space, spoken to as if they were intelligent, then allowed access to the general population! But If Pug Skullz Are In The Radio Who Do I See Playing My Guitar?

Pug Skullz to be crammed into a small space, spoken to as if they were intelligent, then allowed access to the general population! But if Pug Skullz are in the radio, who do I see playing my guitar?

Serendipity? Coincidence? My life, over these last couple of years, has really taken on a surreal quality. Point in case, Olaf Jens, a.k.a. The Vinyl Avenger, invited us onto his show after the release of the ‘When You Hurt’ / ’13th Step’ single a couple weeks ago. This all happened over the computer, because, for the most part, humans don’t live in that old reality place anymore. I think the last time I saw Spinmeister Johnny Ola (another of his aliases) was at our first show at St. Joseph’s in Grass Valley. So, after he’d invited us, my mind would start racing at night, mulling over all the cool things we’d talk about and worrying about how we were going to fit all of us into that coffin-sized space. I wanted to call or write to get a grip on these questions, but I figured it would be easier face-to-face.

So I walk into the local art store yesterday and ‘BAM,’ there’s Lucy and Olaf, a.k.a. DJ Bobby Ola, shopping for doll parts! We probably talked for twenty minutes…just enough to allay my fears (probably instilling them in him). It all worked out for me and it sounds like we’re going to be having a real cool time tonight. The high humidity and cramped space, the pressure to be real while being somewhat entertaining, the paparazzi…I think we’re in for a treat. I mean ‘you’re’…I think you’re in for a real treat.

Oh! Since The Vinyl Avenger is a real professional in the music industry, he’s got a nice system worked out where his show is available for download the following day at his website. Before I give you that address, I’d like to remind everyone that Olaf works as a DJ for a lot of shows in the northern California/ northern Nevada region. It’s not some fly-by-night operation, either. He spins real vinyl, which he owns…he was one of the featured DJ’s at this year’s De-Bauch-A-Reno festival…he plays great music and sometimes surprises me with a gem I’ve never even heard before! What am I saying? Hire him if you need a great DJ or just download all of his past shows for a great introduction to the deeper currents of rockn’roll…here’s that link: http://the-vinyl-avenger.blogspot.com/
